Network Safety & Netiquette

Personal Experience and Take

Network safety involves protecting computer networks and their components from unauthorized access, cyberattacks, and data breaches. It encompasses measures such as firewalls, antivirus software, secure passwords, and encryption to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data.

Netiquette, short for network etiquette, refers to the guidelines for polite and appropriate behavior when communicating online. It involves respecting others' opinions, avoiding offensive language, and adhering to established norms in digital interactions. Netiquette encourages constructive communication, whether through emails, social media, or forums, fostering a positive and respectful online environment.

Both network safety and netiquette are crucial in the digital age, promoting secure online experiences and healthy online communication practices. They play vital roles in maintaining a safe and respectful virtual space, ensuring the integrity of information and promoting positive interactions among users

In the ever-evolving realm of social media, I've learned the vital importance of navigating the virtual space with caution. While social media serves as a crucial means of communication in our daily lives, I have observed the widespread misinformation and the emergence of digital threats. In my personal experience, the potential harm in network safety often remains hidden. As I use the internet thanks to technology, it serves as a gateway through different kinds of information and sources, enabling me to be updated to every day's news as well as to communicate with relatives and friends. The ability to use the internet is to be proud of because as I grew up my parents worked from abroad making me use the internet at an early age. I have seen that other people leaked their personal information such as IDs, scams, unauthorized access, and identity theft. To navigate this digital landscape, I've embraced mindful practices aligned with network safety and netiquette. These include posting thoughtfully, adjusting privacy settings, staying vigilant against phishing, maintaining strong passwords, fact-checking information before sharing in order to share factual information and avoid issues, promoting positive online interactions, and educating others about network safety. These practices collectively enable me to the benefits of social media while protecting myself from potential risks—because for me scams, viruses, and issues are safer and more enjoyable online experiences for all.
